The full SMASH program is now released: Google, The US Olympic Committee, Burst.com, British Cycling, Terveystalo, Ilmarinen…

SMASH, an official Slush side-event focused on sports and health has released the full event program.  There will be nearly 40 startups, a sold out Demo Zone and several product launches of new technologies at Smash.

On November 29th, SMASH start-up event focused on sport, physical activity and health will take place in Suvilahti, Helsinki for the first time. There will be highly esteemed key speakers from the top of their fields, such as Mounir Zok, the ‎Director of Technology & Innovation at the US Olympic Committee, who will let the audience know about improving performance with technology.

Maintaining the healthy life style with technology is also a hot topic at SMASH – Karita Reijonsaari from Terveystalo, Pekka Puustinen from Ilmarinen and Gerard Bruen from Omegawave will discuss on this topic in the form of a health panel. Greg Ivanov from Google will give a keynote about utilizing the virtual reality in the sports world. Alex Nisbett from Livework, then again, shares his knowledge about building the first-class spectator experience and the learnings from the London 2012 Olympic Games.  In addition, Mehdi Kordi from English Institute of Sport will join the world class speaker lineup.

Flying from the oversees, SMASH will be joined also by the US Investors Bryant McBride from Burst.com and Ken Yaffe from ‎Yaffe Sports Ventures, a remarkably experienced innovator and strategist. The ‎Yaffe Sports Ventures was founded by Yaffe himself after he had served two decades at the NHL’s top management.

Yaffe has a lot of experience with startups as well as with established companies and organizations like Athletic Republic, MIPS, Rovio, the National Hockey League (NHL), the American Hockey League (AHL), the Swedish Hockey League, Uplause, Rovio, Hartwall Arena and Roots Canada.

“We are very satisfied with the high rate of interest that SMASH has reached so far”, says the SMASH Producer Hanna Iiskola-Kesonen. “Smash showcases a large variety of the possibilities that technology has to offer for improving sports and active lifestyle.”

SMASH targets to support the co-operation and development of physical activity, sports, and technology both in the present and in the future. “So far the world’s first SMASH has proved the need for this sort of actions.” states Iiskola-Kesonen. ”It is also extremely important that the sports world understands the full potential of this kind of event with the great opportunity to get familiar with the newest technology”.
